This is post 7 of 19 that features something orange! It started with Orange is the New Black***and has just taken off from there. Orange is my jam (or marmalade rather). The heart wants what it wants I suppose.
- 1960s Velvet Dress Jacket- Kilo Shop in Waterlooplein, Amsterdam
- ‘E.B. Smith’ Tights (not thrifted but truly the BEST tights on the market so totally worth buying new)- The Sock Monster, Seattle
- Dr. Marten boots- A gift from my BFF Katie (I had a pair that I wore for many years in my youth and somehow I lost them. Knowing this, Katie surprised me with a new pair <3)
Featured Thrift Shop
Amsterdam is a fabulous place for just about everything, especially thrifting; and even more especially, vintage thrifting! The Kilo Shop is just one of many vintage shops to explore. Everything here is priced by weight in kilograms (oh European metrics!) and is relatively inexpensive for the top quality of the goods. I spent about an hour in the Kilo Shop until my man finally said, ‘okay, can we go now?!’ Although, they had a decent men’s selection so that kept him occupied a while. Oh how I wish I was back in Holland now, riding bikes, eating freshly baked stroopwafle, picnicking at Vondelpark and people watching along the canals.

***Speaking of Orange is the New Black, did ya’ll hear that Uzo Aduba won a 2nd Emmy for her role as Suzanne Warren aka ‘Crazy Eyes’. If you didn’t catch her acceptance speech check it out. Also, here’s a really great article about the OITNB from Rolling Stone which gives an inside look at the personal stories of the incredible actresses who make the show what it is.
